Favorite Place in the South? There’s a tie between Savannah Ga and Charleston, SC. I live about 30 minutes from Savannah and 2.5Hrs from Charleston. They are both beautiful cites with so much history and so many stories.
Favorite Southern Quote? “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.”- Rhett Butler
Favorite Southern Movie? If you can’t tell by my favorite Quote, my favorite movie is Gone with the Wind. It is very much a classic and I can watch it over and over. Another movie that is more modern and has a little different outlook, but is very much southern, is The Help. You have to watch it to understand why it is such a good movie.
Life favorites? I love the fact that i have had a lot of different life experiences to make me who i am today. The fact that i have traveled all throughout the US and have experienced different cultures and upbringings. The fact that it’s always hot where i live… i think it’s only cold for about a month out of the whole year. Our four seasons here in Southern Georgia Consist of: Christmas, Hot, Hotter, & Hell. I’m a little different than most southern belles, and i’ll tell you why..
What makes you a Southern Belle? I wasn’t born into the south, but i was sure enough raised with southern manners and hospitality. I am a daughter of a military man (who served 20 years in the US Army), and i was actually born abroad. I don’t have an actual “Hometown” but after living in Georgia for over half my life, i do consider it home and I have been graced with Southern Charm. It did grow into me as i did most of my growing up in the environment. I have the upmost love and respect for our country and I am willing to be that girl who will sign her life away to fight for our country. My family raised us with class and respect and with manners. It’s kind of funny actually, sometimes when i travel, there will be foreigners and northerners, and I’ve never in my life have seen so many people who don’t use the word “excuse me”. Being a souther belle is the way you live your life: say your prayers, respect your momma and daddy, do what’s right and live your life free of hate. I try my hardest to abide my that and will continue everywhere my life may take me.

Favorite Southernbelleism? “We Southern Belles may appear to be as dainty and delicate as magnolia petals, but we are as strong as cypress roots.”
Favorite Place in the South? It’s a tossup between my college campus and Atlantic Beach, N.C. The first is because of the whole atmosphere and all of my wonderful friends, and the second because my family vacations there every summer and it’s absolutely stunning.
Favorite Southern Quote? “Well, they’re Southern people, and if they know you are working at home they think nothing of walking right in for coffee. But they wouldn’t dream of interrupting you at golf.” - Harper Lee
Favorite Southern Movie? I’ve gotta give it to “Steel Magnolias.” It’s a wonderful story, and the connections between those women are so true to form of real Southern women. It hooks me every time I see it.
Life Favorites: The fact that I can drive with my windows down well into November, the way Kentucky grinds to a halt during March Madness, my incredible sorority sisters who have seen me through some of my toughest times, Old Hickory barbeque on trips back to my Owensboro roots, the way chance brought me to my college even when I didn’t know it would be everything I needed in a school, soaking up the sunshine with a glass of sweet tea and a good book. I could go on and on. It really is about the simple things with me, though. I’d pick a big bowl of shrimp and grits over caviar any day.
What makes me a Southern Belle? To me, being a Southern Belle is all about love: love of the South, our heritage and customs, and who we are as Southern women. It’s a midnight summer drive in my friend’s truck with the windows down and an old George Strait song playing. It’s treating everyone we meet, be it the governor or the garbage man, with respect and courtesy. It’s the memory of the diner at the top of the gravel lane to my grandmother’s farm where I grew up drinking RC cola and eating fried okra. And I’m not claiming to be the most “traditional” Southern Belle – I drive a foreign car and I lost most of my accent in the move to Oklahoma and back. But I love where I come from and who it’s made me. And when people ask me where I live, I get to smile and say “Kentucky, home of the Derby and bourbon and the best barbeque in the country.”

Favorite Place in the South? Dallas, TX! I go there and to Houston to barrel race! I am also in LOVE with the Dallas Cowboy’s!! (And a lot of other places, but these two are my favorites. :))
Favorite Southern Quote? Ooooo. This is a tough one… ”‘My hair is too big’ said no southern belle ever.”
Favorite Southern Movie? O Brother Where Art Thou. No doubt about it, I grew up watching this movie and can say pretty much every line along with the actors.
Life Favorites: My roots run deep in this Mississippi soil but my branches seem to take me places. I enjoy traveling, although when you go North people seem to not understand southern hospitality. I love sweet tea, pearls, bobby pins, curly hair, bleach blonde hair that is natural. This list of life favorites could go on forever. I love when winter ends (even though it didn’t really get cold here this year) and you cut all of your jeans into shorts. I love it.
What makes me a Southern Belle? Everything. Where I’m from. The air I breathe. I love living in the South, I feel warm and at home here. Making a glass of sweet tea and laying out by my pool all day, then going to town at night or ridin’ back roads, raisin’ hell - that’s what I call paradise. Or going to the creek and cuttin’ up, then sitting by a bonfire all night playing the guitar and singing along. Perfection. A lot of people tend to say “Oh, I hate this small town theres so much drama here blah blah can’t wait to move out.” I basically live in a small town that everyone claims they hate yet never seem to leave. I don’t know how anyone could possibly hate this place. I love it. I grew up here and this is where all my memories are -good and bad. I would take being a southern belle over a city girl any day!

Life favorites: Going with my daddy to shoot guns starting at age four, fishing with my daddy, Easter Sundays, staying outside until dark and not wearing shoes all summer, my momma’s fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits, and my sweet 72 year old daddy still introduces me as his baby girl. <3
What makes me a Southern Belle? I know that the only man you can ever trust in your entire life is your daddy. I know the sting of a “hickry” and have tasted blood from the smack in the mouth from back-talking my momma. I was raised to do the right thing, not the popular thing, to love all God’s creatures and protect my family. I know that I may not like my siblings from time to time, but when my parents are gone they will be the only family I have and I HAVE to like them. I still say yes ma’am, yes sir to my parents, even at 38 years old I will not say ‘butthole’ around my momma for fear her go-go-gadget arm will slap the taste out of my mouth. I know that when you love, you love unconditionally and if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. One hard lesson my daughters learned is that no matter what gift you receive, you act like it is the best gift ever and you MUST write a thank you note.

Favorite Place in the South: If I had to pick a city, either Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA. However, there’s nothing better than sipping sweet tea on a front porch rocking chair with all of your friends.

Life Favorites: Going fishin’ with my daddy, sweet tea, the SEC, driving my truck with the windows rolled down and country music blasting, rodeos almost every weekend, the fact that everyone in my town waves to each other, and the respect and history that comes with being from the South.
What makes me a Southern Belle: Though I am from rural Alabama, I thoroughly believe that being Southern is not about where you come from. I am Southern because my parents taught me about respect, what a hard day of work feels like, and to keep my front door open and sweet tea in the fridge. Everyone in town knows each other, which automatically makes us family. We defend and protect one another, and we support each other when times get hard. Having rodeo-ed since I was seven, I was raised to look after others: whether it be my animals or another competitor. The South is all about having good manners and a good attitude. A Southern Belle is just as comfortable hanging with the boys as she is in the kitchen baking with Mama. Southern Belles know the four f’s that keep life running smoothly: Faith, Family, Food, and Football. That is what makes me a Southern Belle.

Life Favorites: Church on Sundays with fried chicken and a NASCAR race afterwards. The SEC (Go Cats!). My momma’s Charlie bread, but her corn bread is just as good. Sweet tea. Country music. And, of course, Jesus! <3
What makes me a Southern Belle: Even though most people consider Florida as not really southern, I’m definitely one at heart! The area where I live is exceptionally southern - guys drive trucks and beef is what’s for dinner! Being a Southern Belle isn’t about where you came from, but more so your way of life. It’s appreciating the little things and remembering what’s important - family. It’s always remembering to call my Grainy and Paw and being thankful for all the blessings the Lord has given you. To me, it’s having Jesus is in my heart, a bow in my hair, and pearls on my neck, and never forgetting where I came from.
