There is not greater sign of gratitude thank a personally written ‘thank you’ note.
—-
Speaking of which, I started my newest job at my hometown paper. Part of my job is interviewing a lot of people and asking a bunch of favors. I have made it a habit to write notes of thanks anytime someone has helped me out. I got these great little cards from the dollar section at Target. Don’t you just love bargains?
I have been watching people post what they are thankful for each day on Facebook. Most of these make me smile because they are well crafted little snippets that lead me to believe there is still some hope left for humanity. I have taken the route of posting the more humorous things I am thankful for (including a shout-out to the four-year-old me, who proudly—and loudly—stated in church that I loved the sun whilst the other children shyly spoke about loving their mommy or dog. Yeah, I was that kid.)
On a more serious note, today marks the day of something quite special for me. It is something that has not only humbled this blogger, but also made her feel INCREDIBLY thankful.
I came onto Tumblr a few years ago and hoped that by putting up the advice and lessons that I have learned from the amazing (and, oftentimes, quirky) Southern women in my life would give a handful of people a few laughs. Turns out, I was getting myself into something far more exciting than I anticipated.
Through this blog, I have met some amazing people—my followers. And without all of you—all 2000 of you—this little blog would be quite insignificant. I never thought that the things my mother and grandmothers spouted out during my childhood (and even now) would be something that so many people would appreciate.
I hit 2000 followers this morning at 4:18 AM. And I am beyond words; all I can think to say is ‘thank you’ from the deepest part of me. Thank you for letting me share my life with you and thank you for sharing yours with me. I am so VERY thankful for each of you. You will never know the amount of gratitude I feel right now.
Thank you so very much.

Love from Your Favorite Southern Belle

Awww now! Maybe you were a Southern Belle in a past life! I have a lot of girls who write to me who are—as I like to called them—“Displaced Belles” and I want all of you to know that no matter what, you all always have a home here on this blog. I love all Belles, not just Southern ones!
And that you so much for the encouragement! It continues to be a project that I still love and still love working on. It’s followers like you that make me keep posting all the things I have learned from the Southern Belles in my life. <3

Favorite Southern literature would have to be…

Why, you are awful sweet to say so, darlin’! Thank you!
Thank you so much, sugar! Like I said before, you all are just some of my Displaced Belles, roaming around the States without finding your home here in the South.
You know, I absolutely LOVE Georgia too. The culture, the food, the sights…everything about Georgia just cries out from the heart of Dixie. And the plantations! Lord, have mercy! Some of my dream houses are down there…too bad I am a poor college student that has yet to build my own Tara.
Thank you again for your kind words! They mean the world to me!
Belles and Beaus—
I can’t believe it has only been 9 months since I started Lessons from a Southern Belle and already I have hit 1000 followers. I am so floored, so very humbled, and so incredibly proud of what this little project has turned into.
I started the blog for one simple reason: I wanted to share my heritage. I think that as we grow and change we tend to forget the most important part of our past…and that is where we come from. This blog was always meant to celebrate the women in my life and the advice they have given me over the years, but it too has transformed in barely a year. It really is a celebration of all Southern women and what we bring to the table as far as our lives go.
I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I wish there were a way I could invite all of you over and we could sit on the back porch for some sweet tea. Buuuut…since so many of you are far away and that just isn’t possible right now, I’ve decided to have a giveaway!
On July 27th, I will be posting the prize package from Teavana (worth over $75.00) and contest rules in that post. The winner will be selected from a random drawing and the package will be shipped to them. I’ll include more information when I post on August July 27th.
Again, let me personally thank you all for following this blog, sending inspirational messages, and for always encouraging me to continue. There are a lot more exciting things coming for Lessons from a Southern Belle in the near future and I do hope you all will stay along for the ride!

I just wanted to say how honored I am that 202 of you would consider my little project worthy of attention. It started off as something that I simply amused myself with and now? It has blossomed into a blog that I am incredibly proud to share. I cannot thank each of you enough for your words of encouragement and kindness, the stories you have each shared with me, and the feeling of accomplishment I experience every time I see that a post has been reblogged.
Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I couldn’t have done it without you! You are inspirations to this project!
